On the second day of the conference, the programme was officially opened following the opening remarks and the HCL keynote speech. The theme of the keynote speech, \u2018Data sovereignty\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0opportunities in a new era of IT\u2019, served as a common thread running through many of the day\u2019s sessions.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Our first presentation also tied in with the theme of the keynote speech.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Presentation 1: NextGen Enterprise Collaboration\u00a0&#8211; Digital Sovereignty Check-up<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni-koblenz.de\/de\/informatik\/iwvi\/schubert\/team\/sebastian-bahles\">Sebastian Bahles<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni-koblenz.de\/de\/informatik\/iwvi\/schubert\/team\/petra-schubert\">Petra Schubert<\/a>\u00a0opened the CEIR team\u2019s session on Wednesday afternoon with a presentation entitled\u00a0<strong><em>\u201cNextGen Enterprise Collaboration Technology \u2013 Check-up: Is my collaboration portfolio future-proof and digitally sovereign?\u201d<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The presentation examined how companies can strategically position their collaboration portfolio and systematically assess it for digital sovereignty. The starting point was an overview of the\u00a0<em>Enterprise Collaboration Platform (ECP)<\/em>\u00a0and its various layers\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0from communication and office tools, through groupware, to enterprise applications. The results sparked a lively discussion: how much sovereignty does a company need, depending on the use case \u2013 and which of the six dimensions is the most critical in an emergency? It became clear that the right level of sovereignty always involves striking a balance between the company\u2019s individual circumstances \u2013 business continuity, existing IT capacities and the available budget.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Presentation 2: Understanding digital workspaces\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0structure, activity and knowledge<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Immediately afterwards,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni-koblenz.de\/de\/informatik\/iwvi\/schubert\/team\/simon-meier)\">Simon Meier<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni-koblenz.de\/de\/informatik\/iwvi\/schubert\/team\/martin-just)\">Martin Just<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni-koblenz.de\/de\/informatik\/iwvi\/schubert\/team\/julian-mosen\">Julian Mosen<\/a>\u00a0presented their research under the title\u00a0<strong><em>\u201cUnderstanding digital workspaces: structure, activity and knowledge in your workspace\u201d<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">To this end, the team presented three complementary tools, each of which offers a distinct perspective on the same workspace:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><em>Enterprise Data Explorer (EDE) &#8211; Structure<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The\u00a0<em>EDE\u00a0<\/em>visualises the structure of a workspace. Using an\u00a0<em>Enterprise Knowledge Graph<\/em>, staff can explore which projects, people and workspaces exist and how they are connected, without having to search through each system manually. It shows who is collaborating with whom, when and to what extent a community or workspace has been active, and classifies contributions using\u00a0<em>Collaborative Work Codes (CWC)<\/em>. Users can ask questions in natural language and receive direct, source-based answers without having to find the right search terms or use the appropriate language. The answers are anchored in the actual workspace content and include hyperlinks to the source, which rules out hallucinations. The evening programme on the second day of the conference \u2013 featuring a guided tour of W\u00fcrzburg and a fantastic view over the city during dinner at the Nikolaushof, also created memories that will linger.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The third day of the conference concluded with the traditional \u2018Ask HCL\u2019 session and a brief closing address.
